Kathleen Pittman (far right) welcomes the Hannover TUC young activists group to City Hall.

Dirk Assel, Hannover DGB (TUC) young members officer, is a regular visitor to Bristol having been here during the 2015 Green Capital year as part of the Hannover Sustainability Network. This week he brought a dozen young activists to Bristol for a study visit. He is planning to pull together a European bid to fund study visits and seminars for young people in both cities next year and UNISON young members rep Kathleen Pittman met up with the group at City Hall to discuss the project.

As Dirk said “We are young trainers in non-formal education and work on topics like anti-racism, diversity, participation, sustainability, political education and youth work. That´s the reason we are searching for people and organizations in Bristol who would like to talk to us about these topics and would like to organize an exchange of knowledge based on these topicsnext year. This should also include strategies and implementations of course. We are based in Hanover but work primarily in the area of Lower Saxonyand we have also started many projects in other European countries.”
